Danish home label Fritz Hansen has opened a pop-up hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The temporary space, which takes over a traditional hanok home, is filled with the brand’s popular furniture designs.

The Gahoe-dong building, built in the 19th century, is given a makeover with the minimalist Scandi aesthetic. “There are the characteristics of a hanok, such as a yard, ‘daecheongmaru’ (living room), ‘toenmaru’ (balcony between yard to house), ‘numaru’ (loft-like floor/raised area), ‘deulmoon’ (connecting door between master bedroom and living room), wooden tiled roof and shoji paper windows,” the brand shares with Wallpaper*. Contemporary furniture such as the Grand Prix chair and Calabash lighting are placed at the center of the dining room, while the KAISER idell lamp lights up a table next to the PK24 lounge chair by Poul Kjaerholm. Other popular designs such as the Swan chair and Cecilie Manz’s pouf and rug complete the calm space.

“Fritz Hansen wanted to show how contemporary design blends with a traditional Korean house,” the brand adds. Upon arrival, guests are offered Danish tea in an area decorated with Bang & Olufsen speakers and a collection of art books that add to the Danish feel.
