Intuitive And Emotionally Intelligent In Business?
Hi, I am Kenya N Redd, model turned motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and author. I am currently the Managing Partner for Indie Stand Up Media and CEO of Indie Central TV along with a few other titles within various small start-up companies.
Over the years I have been on an inward journey to self. What I mean by that is I have been searching for and understanding who I am and what I am truly passionate about. That in itself has been a major inside job. I have over the years had one foot into being an entrepreneur and the other collecting a paycheck. That in part was due mostly out of fear, fear that I would not be able to sustain me or handle my financial responsibilities on my own accord. I was always lead to believe that emotions have no place in business. WRONG! You just have to learn to navigate through them.
Can An Entrepreneur Be Intuitive And Emotionally Intelligent In Business...YES! Absolutely
I deal with entrepreneurs on a regular and when one decides to start their own company and go out on faith it is an emotional decision. And when leading their business to success, every decision made affects them personally whether it is intended to or not. The key is to navigate through the emotions, coupled with a little logic and some intuition. But you have to learn to do it quickly. That comes with experience and sometimes that experience is a support system that can help you get through it.
I have come to learn and accept that is who and what I am. I consult with, hold hands, with supporting several startups and entrepreneurs. I have a gift when it comes to navigating those waters.
Becoming an intuitive business leader was something that I had struggled with and had a hard time accepting. When it comes to business I was taught to believe that in order to be successful you have to learn how to make quick and logical choices w/o emotions being involved. But I have come to learn that sometimes the BEST choice is not always the LOGICAL choice.
See, I consider myself to be extremely emotionally intelligent. Yes, emotional intelligence is a real thing. However, that did not just appear on its own. That was years of past mistakes and realizing the choices that I made ended up badly when made on emotion alone. Whether it be in personal relationships or in the corporate world. I have also come to understand that with that emotional intelligence I am also extremely intuitive, that is a gift from my ancestors. Wait...What?
I am every bit of the Bohemian-Chic, whimsically aware, tarot card reading, thought-provoking business leader. Do you need to read that again?
Let's start by defining emotional intelligence, shall we? According to Psychology Today, emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one's own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Strong business leaders would need to know how to navigate their team to acquire positive and effective results. You have to feel them out in order to motivate, move, and inspire them.
What is the definition of Intuition? According to Miriam Webster Dictionary, it means the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference. Sometimes you just know. Basically, you are able to make decisions quickly by being able to navigate through the emotions of the choice based on past experiences or scenarios and go with your gut.
I used to think that these two worlds could never ever play a part in my road to success. But I have since realized that I have been using the best of both my worlds in personal business the whole time. Intuition has played a very vital role in what I do. I have only recently truly began to understand, accept, and rely on my intuitive nature as it pertains to my business practices for my clients.
My company deals with start-ups and small to medium-size businesses on a daily. I listen very closely to their needs and am able to help guide and navigate them through the entrepreneurial waters effectively. I am able to assist with creating a brand that can fill a need. From logo, development to Add Content to consulting on a daily basis, my ability to use my intuitive skills in business to lead others and myself to success.
